  Jul 19,  · I decided to purchase Office Professional Plus (with a discounted price offered from work). When I had tried to open word documents, they opened in Office Starter, so I changed the default program from the "Microsoft Office Client Virtualization Handler" (which came with Office Starter I guess) to Microsoft Word. Now word documents open in. Find Microsoft Office Desktop Appsin the app list, select it and click on Advanced options. Click Fix, wait for about one minute and then restart your device. If the problem persists, repeat these steps but click Resetinstead of Fixin Step 3. If Fixing or Resetting doesn't work, you can also uninstall Office in the Microsoft Store, and install Office Click-to-Run (C2R) from your My . Windows Excel and WORD icons are not displaying correctly on my system. I donot want to repair the office. IS there any alternate way to get back .

Then right click and select "Pin to Start Menu" not to Taskbar. Do this for each program you want to eventually make it onto your Taskbar. Now go to Start and then for each program that should now show in start menu with the actual Microsoft Office icon , right click and select "Pin to Taskbar".

You can then Remove each one from the Start Menu if you wish by right clicking again and selecting "Remove from this List". Your icons should now be back to their original format. I've rebooted my system several times so far and the icons have remained.
